Excited for a day in the countryside of Vienna, Austria, we booked an incredible Wachau Valley wine tour that we won’t soon forget.
We really needed to get out of the city… Sure, Vienna is beautiful, and walking through the gardens and parks is a wonderful, refreshing experience, but after nearly a month in some of Europe’s largest cities, we needed to get out for some fresh air..
Wachau Valley Wine Tour
So we booked a Wachau Valley wine tour with Vienna Adventures… And what an adventure it was! We met our small group early in the morning in the Vienna city center, hopped on an hour train to the small town of Krems an der Denau, and cycled 26km through amazing wine terraces and tiny old villages, all the way to Weißenkirchen on the other end of the Wachau Valley. We stopped at three wineries and an old-school Austrian tavern, climbed 1000 feet above the river to explore a ruined 10th-century castle and even swam in the icy Danube to round things out… Wow, what a day. Just what the doctor ordered…
Here’s a video of us cycling through the terraced vineyards of the valley..

Hey guys,
12 and 13 here, small world seeing you again in Prague. I’m glad we did because this site is incredibly inspirational. If you ever make it too Seattle, let us know and we can split some square watermelon.
In the mean time, keep at it and we will be following along!

Yep, it was definitely one of the best days of our trip so far. An inspiration to take more day trips out of the city for sure..
