On Day 5 of One Wicked Road Trip, we explore the sights and sounds of Dublin, Ireland
With almost 700 miles traveled through England, Wales, and Ireland in just the first four days of One Wicked Road Trip, we decided to switch things up with a “No Drive Day Five.” Instead, we hop aboard the local bus from Rush, Ireland to check out the sights of Dublin.
But first, an Irish morning and an Irish breakfast
A relative novice to public showering, I had no idea that the damp, dark quarters could bring together new friends… Bumping into Robert, a thus far standoffish campsite neighbor, unexpectedly awakened his Irish charm. Was it Irish Coffee that had suddenly changed his demeanor, or the simple act of men showering together that had lowered his guard? Regardless, his good mood was pleasantly received, and he quickly persuaded us to stay another night. “You don’t want to drive in Dublin. Just take the bus into the city, and come back tonight for the festival next door! Relax, just enjoy yourselves.” Robert was right, the idea of taking a day off from driving while enjoying a few pints was an easy sell…
With sandwiches of orange-yolked eggs and sharp cheddar being prepared on our pop-up stovetop, Krissy headed to the grounds office to book another night. She reserved the space and was given precise directions and change: 1 km walk, exactly 6.60 Euros in a ziplock bag, a 1 hour 15 minute trip to Lower Abbey, Dublin. A warm breakfast, day gear packed, we found the bus, and 33 stops later…
Dublin, Ireland!
By the way, we couldn’t have been happier with our Wicked Campers experience. What better way to explore an entire country than to sleep in a mobile hotel room?
