The undisputed champion of skyscrapers, Hong Kong boasts nearly 1300 skyscrapers! Remarkably, this number is nearly twice than runner-up New York, and even three-times more than bronze-winning Tokyo. And with countless glimmering towers crowded around Victoria Harbour, it’s no wonder a visit to the Hong Kong harbor for a look at the famous skyline is such a jaw-dropping experience.

No two moments are the same here… Perched between mountain and harbor, even the view from the ferry was called one of 50 ‘places of a lifetime’ by National Geographic. With ever-changing seaborne weather patterns mingling with towers and mountains, and a never-ending procession of vessels navigating through choppy turquoise waters, the Hong Kong harbor is truly a sight to behold.

The incredible views get even better as the sun begins to set… The world’s biggest brands begin their nightly competition for a look, when huge neon and LED signs, each bigger than the last, start twinkling above Hong Kong.

We headed to Tsim Sha Tsui Subway Station, then walked down to the waterfront in hopes of finding a suitable vantage point. One of the most popular places to watch Hong Kong come alive is the “Avenue of Stars,” but closed due to construction, we followed retaining walls until reaching a proper, bench-lined stretch of sea wall with a view…
